Francis Marion Homecoming Guidelines for Responsible Tailgating
We are happy to offer a Tailgating option for Homecoming 2018 on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Below you will find Guidelines and important information for responsible Tailgating.

: Tailgating will officially begin at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018 and conclude at 7 pm.
: Those who register for Tailgating will receive credentials to hang from your rear-view mirror the morning of the Homecoming game. We will issue one credential per Homecoming Tailgating space registration.
: The tailgating area is located on the lawn adjacent to the Smith University Center. This area will be occupied by registered tailgating hosts and their guests. Hosts and guests should adhere to guidelines and directives.
: Homecoming Tailgating set-up time will begin at 11 am on Game Day – Saturday, February 10, 2018.
DIRECTIONS TO TAILGATING AREA
: From US 76/301/East Palmetto Street, you will take a right onto Francis Marion Road/Hwy 327. Please continue straight and turn left onto Robert C. Scott Drive. Continue down Robert C. Scott Drive. At the round-about, you will see a sign directing you toward the Homecoming Tailgating area located adjacent to the Smith University Center.
: No one under the age of 21 is allowed to serve or consume alcohol. No open alcohol containers on public streets, sidewalks or outside of the Homecoming Tailgating area. Alcohol (beer and wine only) is allowed inside the tailgating area and can be served inside the reserved tailgating space. Kegs of any size will not be permitted.
We will disseminate wristbands to legal age tailgating hosts and guests for entrance into the Tailgating area. Homecoming Tailgating hosts and their guests will be asked to provide a valid photo identification to verify your legal drinking age.
: All beverages will need to be contained within a plastic cup. Drinking from glass, bottles, and/or cans will not be permitted. You should bring plastic cups to transfer beverages into.
: We will have trash cans placed in the Homecoming Tailgating area. Tailgaters are asked to responsibly dispose of all trash. Tailgaters should properly extinguish grills; only gas grills will be permitted – no fire or charcoal grills. Homecoming Tailgating hosts are responsible for managing clean-up of their registered area. Your Homecoming Tailgate space must be cleaned and cleared no later than 7 pm on Game Day.
: Each space will measure 15 x 30. You may have one vehicle in your space. Any guests and all items your being for tailgating purposes must fit into your designated space.
- No drinking games
- No consumption of illegal controlled substances
- No open alcohol beverages allowed outside the Tailgating area
- No alcohol consumption by persons under age 21
- Do not provide or serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 21.
- No sale of alcohol
- No public intoxication or disorderly conduct
- No hard liquor
FIRE SAFETY/GRILL SAFETY:
Before Grilling – Make sure your grill is clean and functions properly.
During Grilling - Do NOT leave your grill unattended.
In case of a fire:
- For propane grills – turn off the burners and if you can safely reach the tank valve, shut it off.
- Do NOT attempt to extinguish a grease fire with water.
