FMU Men entertain Mount Olive on Tuesday

The Francis Marion University men's basketball team concludes its non-conference slate on Tuesday (Dec. 4) as it welcomes the University of Mount Olive to the Smith University Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students, and FMU students are admitted free. The contest will also be streamed live online courtesy of the Patriot Sports Network.

The Patriots (4-1) extended their winning streak to four in a row on Saturday, beginning the Peach Belt Conference schedule with an 82-79 win over the University of North Georgia. Freshmen Winston Hill (24 points) and Kailex Stephens (22 points) each posted career highs to help Francis Marion to victory.

FMU boasts the best offense in the Peach Belt (91.8 ppg), led by senior forward Brandon Parker, whose 17.8 points per game are third-most in the league. Stephens ranks fifth in the PBC in scoring (16.8 ppg), and is tops among the conference's freshmen in scoring and rebounding (7.0 rpg). The freshman is also the lone Francis Marion player to have scored double-digit points in each of the team's first five games.

Francis Marion has won its last nine home games, equaling the seventh-longest streak in program history.  The last time the Patriots won at least 10 straight home contests was during the 2003-04 campaign (a 13-game streak).

The Trojans (2-4) halted a three-game skid on Saturday with a 78-63 win over King University in their Conference Carolinas opener. Mount Olive features a balanced offensive attack which includes five players averaging double-digit points, led by sophomore guard Alan Treakle's 14.8 points per contest.

Tuesday's tilt will be the seventh all-time meeting between Francis Marion and Mount Olive in men's basketball, with the teams having split the first six. The Patriots have beaten the Trojans each of the last two seasons.

This will also be the final home contest for FMU before the New Year begins.
