RALEIGH, NC – Senior Marc Casullo shot a final-round 76 to lead Francis Marion University on Tuesday (Oct. 3) at the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
The 54-hole event was hosted by N.C. State University on the 7,358-yard, par 72 Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
Francis Marion tallied a 313 team score to finish 13th with a 920 total. The Patriots were tied for 12th position heading into the final round.
The host Wolfpack held off the University of North Carolina over the final few holes to claim the team championship by two strokes, 848-to-850. The two squads were tied after each of the first two rounds. Campbell University placed third with an 863 score, followed by Loyola University of Maryland (866), East Carolina University (871), and the University of Maryland (871) to round out the Top 5.
Casullo finished tied for 43rd position in the players' standings with a 224 total. Junior Lars Sandvoll also tied for 43rd after recording a final-round 79.
The remainder of the Patriot squad included senior Callum McGuigan shooting a 77 to tie for 52nd place, freshman Jacob Morris recording an 81 to tie for 76th, and freshmen Michael Rials with an 88 to place 80th.
N.C. State's Stephen Franken carded a final-round 70 claim medalist honors with a 15-under-par 201 total, eight strokes ahead of the second-place golfer.
FMU will return to action on Oct. 16-17 at the AutoTrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga.
