KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – Senior Lars Sandvoll shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday (Nov. 6) to lead Francis Marion University to a 20th-place finish at the East Bay Deli Men's Golf Classic at Kiawah Island.
Charleston Southern University hosted the 54-hole event, which was played on the 6,911-yard, par-72 Turtle Point Golf Course.
The College of Charleston (861) finished three strokes ahead of the University of Memphis to claim the team title. FMU posted a final-round score of 305, its best team score of the tournament, to finish at 933.
Sandvoll carded 10 birdies for the tournament to lead Francis Marion, and fired a 227 (79-76-72) to finish tied for 51st in the players' standings. Freshman Grant Sellers was the second-highest finisher for FMU, tying for 83rd with a score of 233 (72-83-78). Rounding out the Patriots' lineup were freshman Pierre De Caevel (84-79-76=239) who tied for 97th, freshman Grainger Howle (77-85-79=241) who tied for 104th, and sophomore Jacob Morris (79-83-83=245) who finished 108th.
The College of Charleston's Christian Baliker (209) shot a final-round five-under 67 to tie 36-hole co-leader Isaiah Jackson of Memphis for the individual title.
Francis Marion begins the spring portion of its 2018-19 schedule on Feb. 25-26 by hosting the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
