KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – Francis Marion University freshman Casper Kennedy shot for and 4-over par as the Patriots closed out the second day with a 17th position at the Kiawah Classic at Turtle Point.
Kennedy (+4) currently holds a standing at 48th tied with four other contenders. The Tjome, Norway native shot rounds of 73 and 75 on the par 72 course to lead the Patriots.
Auburn's Jovan Rebula is the tournament leader after shooting rounds of 64 and 66 for a 14-under-par score of 130. USC Upstat's Hunter Fry placed second after two rounds with a six-under card of 138, followed by a four-way tie for third at 140.
Auburn's team leads the tournament with round scores of 274 and 282 for a total score of 556 for a 17-stroke lead over Augusta (283-290=573). College of Charleston (290-284=574), High Point (288-291=579), Samford (295-289=584), and Gardner-Webb (291-293=584) round out the top five teams.
Francis Marion shot rounds of 303 and 299 for a scorecard of 602 and 17 place in the field. The Patriots are 26-over-par through two rounds.
John Burghart (+5) is currently tied for 53th after shooting rounds of 73 and 76. Mark Goodall (+8) shot for rounds of 77 and 75 to be tied for 75th with a 152 scorecard. Sophomores Grainger Howle (+10) sits tied for 84th with a card of 154 after shooting rounds of 81 and 73, while Pierre de Caveal (+15) rounds out the Patriots with a score card of 159 (80-79) standing in the 103rd position.
The Kiawah Classic field will close out the three-day event at the Turtle Point Golf Course tomorrow with the third and final round. The shotgun is set for a 9 a.m. start.
