Cougars defeat Patriot Women 5-0

COLUMBUS, GA – Columbus State University scored a pair of first-half goals and then added a trio of scores in the second stanza to claim a 5-0 victory over Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2) in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action.

Francis Marion (7-7-1, 4-6-0) will play host to Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference contest.

Columbus State (11-6-0, 6-4-0) outshot the Patriots 27-5 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Kimmy May opened the scoring at 11:15 and Brenna Harrison doubled the margin with a goal at 34:56.  The Cougars added insurance scores in the 51st, 61st, and 84th minutes.

Patriot senior goalkeeper Micahla Kitchen recorded seven saves, while CSU keeper Bria Riancho made two stops.

Senior midfielder Carli Gauthier was the lone FMU player with multiple shots as she got off two attempts.  Junior Sarah Moll forced a save by Riancho at 60:06 and sophomore Kiley Barr registered a shot-on-frame at 66:41.
